Great British Bake Off bets stopped by Ladbrokes
Ladbrokes has stopped banking on BBC show the Great British Bake Off after a flurry of wagers sparked fears the winner's name might have been leaked.
"A run of bets" was placed for one contestant, many at stores in the Ipswich location, the bookmaker said.
It is not known which baker triggered the flurry or whether any participants have connections with the Suffolk town.

The first episode of the popular amateur baking contest aired on BBC One Wednesday evening.

It is the 6th series of the program, which challenges 12 hopefuls to impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

Weekly the amateur bakers are anticipated to deal with a baking challenge, with very little guidelines, and present a "signature dish".
'Soggy bottom'
The bookmaker stated a flurry of bets came in for one of the 12 candidates whose odds began at 12/1 and were minimized to 6/1, 3/1 and after that evens.

"We provided prices on Monday and, almost before the ink was dry, an uncommon variety of punters were in a rush to back only one contestant," David Williams of Ladbrokes stated.

"On Tuesday and Wednesday it was more of the same one-way traffic. That sufficed to set our alarm bells calling and, as a preventative measure, we suspended our wagering.

"Hopefully, we'll go back up with revised chances faster rather than later, but we didn't wish to get captured with our trousers took down and a soaked bottom, so we've chosen to relax till we are reassured that Bake Off hasn't gone off currently.

"When you see a run of bets like this promotion code for one participant at the cost of everybody else that can be an indication to suspend wagering for a bit to examine the situation," he included.
Several of the bets positioned were the optimum the yohaig code bookmaker would consider wagers made on the show's outcome, and 90% were put on one entrant.

The suspension would not affect bets already placed, the business said.
The first participant to be knocked out of the competition on Wednesday evening was Stuart Henshall from Surrey.
The 11 staying participants are from Berkshire, Lancashire, Cambridgeshire, London, West Yorkshire, Manchester, Essex, Swansea and 2 from Perthshire.
